Throughout my life I’ve been faced with a myriad of validly enraging situations. Being housed in the body that I am, I am unable to express my valid rage.

It would be a waste of time to list the countless instances where I and probably lots of other people in overlapping experiences have had to bite their tongue, Deep breathing through injustice so that we aren’t made example of. Every time in my childhood that I acted on my mistreatment the institutions (school) whatever authorities quickly acted within the flaws of the standardized collective conditioning that black kids must be up to something bad and my anger had to be misplaced becuase in their projection im just an angry black kid. And I was angry. Validly so, but my anger is received as something else. Often perceived as violence, even from children.

From childhood to now I’ve only been able to express my anger in my art. I have to conceal it everywhere else. Mainly for the fact that the cultural imagination is so flawed that for me to emote the full range of my being could lead to my extrajudicial murder in some cases, wrongful incarceration in others, or becoming a social pariah.

As a kid it resulted in isolation, being bullied, and eventually changing schools and deciding I’d wear a smile almost like a mask.

Now my smile is real, I created the perforated boundaries of my own world to exist in. I still get angry. And my anger my rage is all valid. Have a taste.
