I’m dropping a very limited edition print of a drawing I made in preparation for my solo show at the Rubell Museum.

Here are a few details:

The print is made from a super high quality scan not from photographs like my previous prints.

These prints are crafted to the highest of print standards.

For the first time ever I’m hand signing and numbering each print. Each one will come with a hand written note from me as well.

These prints are 100% archival. I used the highest quality paper and collaborated with an expert fine art printer with over 30 years of experience.

The prints look exactly! I mean exactly like the original drawing.

This print is 15”x21” with a 1.5 inch border making a final paper size of 18x24” perfect for standardized frames.

I said I was gonna stop doing prints but I’ve been getting requests and my dad finally encouraged me to give the people what they want.

I still want to make the website offerings as reasonable as possible.

These will ship out Dec 11th when I get back from Miami.

This drawing in particular is very special to me. I’ve been examining the nature of monstrosity, how we demonize certain individuals and praise others. I think a lot about the literal biblical description of angels, how when you read the text they sound monstrous. The notion of angels being “angelic” in the western sense I feel is a tool to influence the idolization of whiteness.

Since childhood I’ve drawn these guardian spirits, entities that protect me here in the physical and fight for me in the spiritual realm.

My mom often asks why I draw such creepy of scary creatures. To me they aren’t scary or creepy. That notion made me think about how something can be scary to one person and comforting to another. I’m glad my angles can scare and fight when necessary.

The conversation around monstrosity makes me think a lot about how we prejudge people based on their appearance or where they come from.

I’ve always felt a connection to spiders so this figure is a spider guardian. 4 arms and 4 legs 8 magical eyes.

My nerd friends will notice how the spider figure has the mangekyo sharingan in one eye, the rennegan, and the byakugan in another eye. Multiplicity of sight and perception are key.

I find it essential to a quality life to be able to have a fluid perception. To be able to see things many different ways and empathize with other peoples positions leads to a more fulfilling life and to greater understanding.

This print is limited to an edition of 20 with 2 artist proofs
